Grant Distribution Policy

The Board acknowledges the significant fundraising efforts members have made to generate the monies available for this community focused Foundation. Accordingly the board's commitment is to ensure that sufficient reserves are available for the ongoing successful operation of the Foundation and the provision of grants to worthy recipients as identified by members of the Duncan’s Community.

Accordingly, grant distribution will be considered on the following basis.

  • Adequate reserves of funds are in place to ensure the ongoing viability of the Foundation.
  • Grants provided for Individuals or Groups will enhance, promote and deliver benefits for those individuals or the community groups.

Contributions to Individuals or Community Groups, Projects or Programs and Services.

  • Add value to the community.
  • Represent a tangible positive benefit.
  • Protect the integrity of the Foundation.
  • Be non politically motivated.
  • Funds distributed to a trust or another organisation will be bound by the ethical and moral standards of the Duncan’s “Help a Mate” Foundation.
  • No grant shall exceed 10% of the funds raised for distribution in the previous financial year.
               

Applications for funds made available by the Duncan’s “Help a Mate” Foundation through this grant distribution policy will be accepted from individuals, not for profit community groups, organizations and clubs.

All applications will be judged on their merits. Grants will be made at the discretion of the Board of SILGA Ltd. The Board will determine the extent and financial commitment for each grant and will also determine to which groups or individuals the funds will be distributed. The decision of the Board will be final and no correspondence will be entered into once the  decisions have been made.
